Hi Friends!
We’re back from our mini hiatus! We took October off to recenter and cook something new for our readers. After all, Week to Weekend would not have been possible without every one of you, and we want to make sure that our newsletters continue to offer value.
Our values have always been rooted in meaningful connections, creative living, and wholesome experiences. We wanted to give the best of both worlds by continuing to share the magic in Guam and Micronesia (where we are currently based) and share all the cozy and feel-good lifestyle goodies that can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere!
With that said, we will be having two issues:
Mondays – Week to Weekend in Guam 🌺
Thursdays - Week to Weekend Lifestyle Nook ✨
We’re trying our best to make this a bi-weekly thing. Thanks for sticking with us!
Esta Later ✌🏻,
Marissa & Akina
Remembering Service: Guam’s Historic Landmarks
The Memorial Wall of Names – Asan Bay Overlook
The monument was built to commemorate the liberation of Guam in 1945 and stands as a solemn reminder of those who served and endured the hardships of the Japanese Occupation in 1944.
The names of 1,880 U.S. service members, 1,170 civilians, and 14,721 others impacted by the war are etched onto its walls, honoring all the lives that were lost or forever changed by this tragic war.
Guam Veterans Memorial – Humåtak
The Guam Veterans Memorial is located in the southern village of Humåtak. A sign will appear as you head southbound. This memorial is dedicated to the 74 CHamoru men who served and died during the Vietnam War.
Piti Guns - Piti
During the Japanese occupation, Piti was a rice paddy village, and the guns were strategically placed by the Japanese. The guns had a firing range of about 10 miles and were to be used against incoming ships. Today, Piti Guns remains a historic hiking trail.
Check out our central itinerary, which includes visiting Piti Guns here.
