Can you believe we're halfway through 2023? Where did time even go? The typhoon left our heads in a daze, but if there's one thing, we gained the quietness of downtime.
Even as things slowly shift back to normalcy, we realized how important it is to still carve out that downtime in our schedules. As a busy mom, entrepreneur, freelancer, and social butterflies, we're both constantly on the go, and sadly, a simple joy like reading often gets put on the back burner.
This week, we prepared some bookish tips and other cool reading guides below. Makes for a great stay-at-home solo date, don't ya think?

World reading statistics from 2021 show that 23% of US adults haven't read a book in the past 12 months, and the average American aged 20 to 34 spend just 6.6 minutes reading daily.
This article by Vox breaks down ways to fall back in love with reading.
The gist:
Research shows that Americans read 12.6 books yearly compared to 15.6 in 2016.
College graduates show the most significant decline in the number of books read.
Some studies have suggested that reading fiction can increase empathy.
Reading fiction retrains the brain to stay open and sort the information carefully.
Research also shows that we remember more when reading physical books than ebooks.
Tips on how to get back into reading:
Use whatever personality quirks, like sipping your morning coffee while you read.
Reestablish a reading habit as a net benefit by giving yourself permission to read whatever you are interested in.
