Oh that’s great! I’m learning something new every day. What’s the word for grandfather then? And do you use that same word for uncle/anyone who is an older male?

It's "ojichan." To say both grandmother and grandfather in the polite form (mostly if you're addressing strangers), we add "san" – obasan and ojisan.

Absolutely, and thank you for taking the time to read our issue! Obachan means grandmother in Japanese. It can also mean aunt or older woman, depending on how you say it :)
