Issue 42: Six Things in Six Words
Human connections and the use of language.
Hi Friends,
What are six words that changed your life? Maybe it's that one thing your second-grade teacher told you that inspired you to pursue a career in science or that one thing a customer might have said that made you feel self-conscious. Words can remarkably shape our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. They can uplift us, inspire us to greatness, or even leave us with many questions.
We're drawn to books, beautiful quotes from movies, and affirmations because they speak to us in ways that make us feel heard and seen. That said, we're so grateful for our community.
Much love,
Marissa & Akina

💭 5 Questions to Ask for a Life Reset by Marie Forleo, author of Everything Is Figureoutable
We're avid learners and firm believers in knowledge exchange. Our coffee dates and car rides often consist of hours just sharing the knowledge bombs we learned, and we're so excited to share these goodies with you.
We all need a reset every once in a while. Marie highly recommends two things before diving into these five questions. Get outside, like going to a coffee shop, park, or beach, and write your answers by hand. No phones – we're doing this old school with a pen and notebook.
Where am I craving something better in my life? Write down the first thing that pops into your mind. Gratitude is an attitude, but discontent is a huge opportunity for you to see where you are in your progress + opportunity to evolve/grow/make something better.
What truth am I pretending not to know? What are you avoiding? What is uncomfortable, or what are you scared to tell yourself about? Here are some examples – the reality of your current finances, outgrowing a job, what emotional patterns I fall back into, etc.
What rules have I been told I "have to" follow but don't feel right for me?
Think of this on a personal level. What have you been told that you need to do? Learning about our human design changed how we operate in our day-to-day. We're both projectors, meaning we need much rest, and the hustle-and-grind culture works against us.
If I don't change my daily habits, will my life be better or worse three years from now?
40% of our daily behaviors are habits. That means our unconscious brains are on autopilot. In 36 months, will your habits get you to where you want to be, keep you stagnant, or take you a few steps back?
What do I need to let go of? Whether that's physical clutter, outdated ideas, old thought patterns and habits, career, projects you don't care about anymore, etc. This creates an opening for something new.
