Issue 43: #WeektoWeekendGuam Food Bucket List
Our go-to list for every foodie occassion
Hey friends!
We’re wrapping up celebrating CHamoru Heritage Month with something our team loves: food! Some of the delicious foods we come across from our travels are recommendations made by meeting strangers, and we love sharing our favorite spots with visitors and locals who have no idea where and/or what to eat.
Whether it’s a quick snack, light lunch, or a tasty dessert, our forks and spoons are ready! In this issue, we have a bucket list for every type of craving.
Much love,
Marissa & Akina
#WeektoWeekendGuam Food Bucket List For Every Occasion
BREKKIE: Pastries at MainStreet Delicatessen & Bakery
At MainStreet, you’ll find nothing short of local bites and baked goods. The storefront has a San Fran flair and our favorite Chamorro cinnamon-sugar donuts have coined the term “crack” donuts; they’re that addictive. They’re a fave when it comes to early morning potlucks.
Our favorites: Donuts, cinnamon buns, and chalakilis

Open as early as 7:30 am, Savage offers an array of handcrafted sandwiches with a flavor twist. With a skater and punk rock vibe, the menu includes an all-star lineup of sandwiches made with juicy patties, chili oil-dunked crispy chicken, battered parrot fish on a pan de leche bun, or Italian hoagie. Check out our interview with Chef Dylan Saad.

If you ever drive past Frances Bakehouse you’ll probably see a line right out the door right before opening. This small-batch bakery is where to go if you’re looking for freshly baked bread, croissants, cookies, and other pastries. Every item is baked from scratch, making it a destination you can’t miss. Trust us when we say that the line is worth it!
Our favorites: Sourdough focaccia, twice-baked almond croissant, and all their cookies (no, we’re serious).

DATE NIGHT: Tapas and Good Wine at Bistro El Kamino
This is one of our favorite date night spots. With tons of shareable tapas and a selection of international wines, this cozy bistro feels like you’re somewhere in Europe. The fun part is that you can pull pre-made items from the fridge, and the chef can prepare them to be served fresh.
Our favorites: Chef’s original hamburger steak, crispy karage, and yogurt cake with fresh fruits.

Get a plate for the fam filled with shareable finger foods, including chicken kelaguen, tinala’ katne, and a steaming clambake accompanied by two types of titiyas. While in Guam, indulging in local BBQ is a must. Don’t hold back and go all out with Meskla’s Award-winning BBQ chicken and juicy short ribs.
